For many people, the idea of “clocks changing” during the fall season of the year means losing an hour of daylight as dusk occurs earlier. In the world of night photography it’s an additional hour of night that’s otherwise unavailable during the rest of the year. This particular evening was my first opportunity this year to take advantage of the additional hour of darkness for night photography.
The featured image in this gallery is a view of downtown Safety Harbor, Florida looking directly up the length of Main Street from outside the main entrance of the Safety Harbor Spa and Resort. Following Main Street to its other end brings you near beaches on the Gulf of Mexico eight miles from this location.
Taking this image involved a considerable amount of patience as there was vehicle traffic continuously moving through the intersection in the foreground of this picture. There was also the factor of vehicles in the background being far enough away where their motion is not visible despite the fact the vehicles were moving toward and away from camera while the shutter was open.
