Twilight Volleyball in Gulfport 2018
This gallery includes an image of a beach volleyball game taken shortly after sunset while walking the beach in the downtown waterfront area of Gulfport, Florida plus a sunset picture of Boca Ciega Bay from the downtown waterfront. Volleyball courts are a common sight at many public beach locations in Florida. This particular night also featured an unusually bright full moon which had drawn me out to look for subjects to photograph during and shortly after the sunset hour. On this occasion more subjects than the sunset itself were available to photograph.
Gulfport is a community of artists and crafts people (population 12,000) that is part of the St Petersburg metropolitan area. The center of Gulfport contains an extensive waterfront area along Boca Ciega Bay which empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The waterfront area of Gulfport includes a public beach with volleyball courts, two piers for fishing and docking small boats, many restaurants and shops, plus the Gulfport Casino ballroom hosting dances and private events.
