Images in this gallery are a selection of black and white renditions of night scenes taken near the Hillsborough River waterfront in downtown Tampa (Florida) including the downtown river walk along the river and Plant Hall at the University of Tampa. I rendered each of the photos taken on this shoot in two versions – one the original color, a second version with the original color image converted to black and white. Comparing the two versions of each image, multi-color lights in the color images distracted from seeing the photo’s subject and composition. Rendering the color image into black and white created a more uniform picture and better highlighted the image’s subject and composition.
