Tour (tower) Montparnasse is the only high-rise skyscraper in central Paris. The tower is a 59-story office building with a rooftop observation area on the top floor. Since the tower’s completion in 1973, construction of new buildings over seven stories in height was banned in the central area of Paris. Some have said the observation area on Tour Montparnasse has the best skyline view of central Paris as it is the only location from which the tower is not visible.
Images in this gallery include a series of evening views looking west toward the Eiffel Tower from the same location on the tower’s observation deck over a 45 minute time period.
