NIGHT MOVES PHOTOGRAPHY ON 500px
1 Dec 2017
500px is a photography sharing site and on-line community geared toward “high-end amateur”, semi-professional and professional photographers. This site is definitely a place to showcase your best photography in a place where other photographers are also showcasing their best work. The overall quality of photography exhibited on 500px is well above that seen in other photo sharing sites. In addition to viewing showcased images, 500px allows you to like and post comments on any image as well as choosing to follow (in 500px) the photographer who submitted the image. The site also allows viewing a selection of images by subject as well as viewing all photographic work submitted in 500px by an individual photographer. 500px is also an on-line community of photographers and the site includes additional features available to paid subscribers. 500px is clearly a site created by photographers for photographers. 500px has a free trial subscription period available with a basic paid subscription currently at $50 per year.
I became a paid subscriber to 500px in the last few days and posted my first image (below) on 500px from my (Sunset at Pier 60 2017) gallery. Joining 500px provided me with two opportunities: getting my own photographic work out and showcasing it in a place where it is easily seen and reviewed by my “peers” in the world of photography, as well as having the opportunity (myself) to see and review photography submitted by my “peers”. I have found 500px an excellent place to see work other photographers are creating and the possibility of learning ideas from their work.
I became aware of 500px several years ago after viewing a tutorial video about 500px done by Serge Ramelli in 2014. The video is currently available on You Tube, Select this link (Serge Ramelli tutorial) to watch his video. Select this link (Spruce.com) for a review of the 500px website.
Thank you for visiting Night Moves Photography.
